Editorial Policy

Nice Loans publishes mortgage, home loan, and property finance content to help Australians understand lending concepts, compare available options and make better-informed financial decisions. Our editorial approach is designed to ensure that financial information is clear, accurate, transparent and appropriately supported by reliable sources.

Last reviewed: 21 August 2026 Policy owner: Nice Loans Next scheduled review: August 2027
Our commitment We know how mortgage and property decisions can have significant long-term consequences. Therefore, we take particular care with information about lending criteria, government schemes, regulation, eligibility, costs and other matters that may materially affect a borrower.
Section 01

Our editorial principles

A people-first approach guides our content. We create to answer genuine borrower questions and provide useful, practical information, not simply to attract search traffic.

Accuracy matters: Material lending, regulatory and government scheme claims and eligibility are checked against current and authoritative sources wherever required.

Clear authorship: Readers will be able to identify who wrote or reviewed important financial content and understand their relevant experience.

Plain language is our standard: We aim to explain complex mortgage and finance concepts clearly, without unnecessary jargon or hiding important risks, costs, assumptions or limitations.

Transparency is essential: We distinguish general information from personalised credit assistance and disclose relevant commercial relationships, fees and limitations where appropriate.

Time-sensitive information is reviewed: Content is reviewed when laws, government schemes, thresholds, lender policies, market settings or other material circumstances change.

Accountability: We provide a way for readers to report possible errors and, where required, also publish material corrections or change notes.

Section 02

Who creates our content

Nice Loans content is created by content specialists working with mortgage and finance professionals, experienced finance writers and other contributors operating within our editorial process.

Where an author byline is provided, readers should be able to access information about that person's role, experience and relevant areas of expertise. Content involving lending criteria, credit assistance, government housing schemes or other material financial claims is reviewed by professionals with relevant knowledge before publication.

While some topics may involve tax and superannuation, legal, accounting or financial product considerations, mortgage and credit expertise does not replace advice from a registered tax agent, solicitor, licensed financial adviser or other appropriately qualified professional. Where specialist expertise is required, we seek appropriate review or limit the content to general information supported by authoritative sources.

Section 03

How we research and source information

We prefer primary and authoritative Australian sources. Depending on the subject, our sources may include:

  • Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
  • Moneysmart
  • Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)
  • Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA)
  • Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
  • Housing Australia
  • Federal and state legislation
  • State/territory revenue offices and housing agencies
  • Official lender documents and policy information
  • Relevant professional and industry bodies

While we do use secondary sources where they provide useful background, context or additional perspectives, we do not regard the fact that a statement appears on multiple websites as confirmation that the statement is correct.

For material claims, particularly those that could affect a borrower's financial decisions, we aim to identify and rely on the most appropriate original or authoritative source available.

Section 04

How content is reviewed

We understand how content dealing with government assistance, borrowing eligibility, regulatory requirements, or strategies could materially affect a borrower's financial position and require a different level of review as compared to content that is straightforward educational material.

Higher-risk subjects may require additional fact-checking and, where appropriate, review by someone with relevant compliance, lending or specialist knowledge. Therefore, before publishing or materially updating content, we aim to consider:

  • Whether the key factual claims are accurate
  • Whether the information reflects the circumstances and date to which it applies
  • Whether the sources are authoritative and sufficiently current
  • Whether important conditions or eligibility requirements have been included
  • Whether fees, risks, assumptions and limitations are adequately explained
  • Whether calculations and examples are presented in a way that cannot reasonably be mistaken for a guaranteed result
  • Whether the writer and reviewer have appropriate knowledge for the subject
  • Whether the content remains within the scope of their professional expertise
  • Whether the page makes the distinction between general information and personalised assistance clear

The level and frequency of review may vary according to the subject matter and the likelihood that information will change.

Section 05

Publication and review dates

We use publication and review dates to help readers understand how current an article is. The original publication date identifies when the article was first published. Where a page has subsequently undergone a substantive review or update, we may display a last-reviewed or last-updated date.

We do not routinely change an article's date simply because minor wording, formatting or other non-material edits have been made. Here, a material change may include updating important factual information, revising information on lending or government schemes, correcting a significant error, or substantially changing the substance of an article.

Some subjects naturally require more frequent attention than others. Information concerning government programs, legislation, lending requirements, thresholds, rates or lender policies may be reviewed when relevant changes occur rather than according to a fixed timetable.

Section 06

Calculators and worked examples

Our calculators and worked examples are intended to make mortgage and property finance concepts easier to understand. They are educational tools, not lending assessment systems.

Where relevant, Nice Loans aims to tell readers what information has been used, how a calculation works and which assumptions affect the result.

Information provided may include:

  • The inputs required
  • The calculation methodology
  • Assumptions and exclusions
  • Applicable rates, thresholds or government settings
  • The date on which those inputs or settings apply
  • Factors that may cause a real-world result to differ

Figures may also be affected by rounding, timing, lender methodology or information that is not captured by a calculator.

A calculator result does not mean that a borrower's qualification for a particular loan or rate is guaranteed. Neither is it a loan approval, formal quote, credit assessment, eligibility determination or a personalised recommendation. Actual lending decisions are based on the applicant's circumstances and the relevant lender's current assessment criteria.

Section 07

First-hand experience and case studies

Real-world examples can help explain concepts that are difficult to understand from theory alone. Where appropriate, Nice Loans may use practical observations or anonymised scenarios based on client experiences to illustrate how a mortgage or property finance process can operate.

However, please do not fret. We take privacy and confidentiality seriously. Client information is used only where appropriate permission and safeguards are in place, and identifying details can always be removed or altered.

We do not create fictional testimonials, invent client outcomes or present manufactured experiences as though they were genuine. In instances where case studies are presented to describe any particular situation, it should not be interpreted as a promise that another borrower will achieve the same results. Individual outcomes can depend on factors such as income, expenses, credit history, deposit, property, lender policy, documentation and other circumstances.

Section 08

Our use of artificial intelligence and other tools

Technology, including artificial intelligence, may form part of our content-production process. Depending on the task, software may assist with activities such as organising research, identifying structural issues, transcription, proofreading, drafting or improving readability.

We believe that technology does not replace editorial responsibility. Content that contains important financial information is reviewed by a professional before publication. The responsible reviewer must consider the accuracy of material claims, the quality of supporting sources, the appropriate context and whether the content complies with this editorial policy.

AI-generated or AI-assisted material is not treated as evidence simply because an automated system has produced it. We do not use AI tools to manufacture fabricated sources or citations, professional qualifications, quotations, client experiences, testimonials, financial results or claims about outcomes that did not occur.

Confidential or sensitive client information must not be entered into unapproved public AI systems or other tools that have not been authorised to handle that information.

Section 09

Commercial relationships and editorial integrity

Nice Loans is a mortgage and credit assistance business. Therefore, we may receive commissions from lenders and may charge fees in certain circumstances. We also work with an approved lender panel, which does not necessarily represent every lender or credit product available in Australia.

Being included on our lender panel, having a commercial relationship with Nice Loans or paying a commission does not mean that a particular lender or product is suitable for every borrower. Our editorial content is intended to provide useful information rather than present commercial relationships as evidence of suitability.

Where remuneration, fees, lender-panel limitations or another commercial relationship is relevant to a reader's understanding of our services or content, we aim to provide appropriate disclosure.

If you are seeking information about how Nice Loans is remunerated, the lenders we work with or fees that may apply, please refer to our credit guide and other relevant disclosure information or contact Nice Loans directly before proceeding.

Section 10

General information and professional scope

Unless a page clearly states otherwise, information published by Nice Loans is general information. It has not been prepared with consideration of an individual reader's objectives, financial circumstances or needs.

Nice Loans provides credit assistance within the scope of its authorisation. Where a reader's circumstances require advice outside that scope, an appropriately qualified professional should be consulted. This may include a registered tax agent, solicitor, licensed financial adviser, accountant or other relevant professional.

Mortgage and property decisions can be affected by circumstances that change over time. Interest rates, lending criteria, fees, valuations, government programs, eligibility requirements and lender policies are examples of matters that may change. Information on this website should therefore be considered in light of the date it was published or reviewed and the rules or policies that apply at the time a decision is made.

Section 11

Corrections and reader feedback

We encourage readers to tell us when something appears to be incorrect, unclear, outdated or unsupported. This includes concerns about factual statements, government or regulatory information, outdated lending information, broken or inappropriate source links, unclear explanations or examples that may unintentionally create a misleading impression.

Correction requests can be sent to docs@niceloans.com.au.

Please include:

  • The URL of the relevant page
  • The specific statement or section you believe requires attention
  • An explanation of the issue
  • A supporting source or evidence, if available

Once information is provided, we consider the nature and potential impact of the issue, as well as the reliability of the evidence provided. Where we identify a material error, we aim to correct the information as soon as reasonably practicable. Depending on the circumstances, we may also add a correction or change note so readers can understand what has been amended.
