The FHOG and Victoria’s first home buyer duty exemption or concession are separate forms of assistance.
The duty exemption or concession reduces the land transfer duty payable when purchasing an eligible property. Eligible first home buyers may pay no duty on properties with a dutiable value of up to $600,000, while a concession may apply from $600,001 to $750,000.
The FHOG is a separate $10,000 payment available to eligible buyers purchasing or building a qualifying new home valued at up to $750,000.
Because each program has separate eligibility requirements, some buyers purchasing a qualifying new home may be eligible for both FHOG and a duty exemption or concession. Eligible buyers may also be able to use the Australian Government 5% Deposit Scheme, subject to eligibility requirements, price caps & participating lender assessment.
Nice Loans can help you identify such programs that are relevant and also explain lending requirements. Final eligibility & entitlement are determined under each program’s rules.
